I bought Alli's first book, Modern Florals, it taught me so much that I wasn't sure if I needed to purchase this one. I am so, so happy I did! It has so much more in it and is not repetitive of the first book. You don't have to purchase the first one in order to be able to follow this one. It goes into teaching you about floral illustration for arrangements and borders. It also leads you through how to digitize your art. It is easy, for anyone, at any level, to follow. Super excited about digging into this book!
I have been counting down the days for this book to come out! I thought her first book was amazing.. this book exceeded my expectations of what a “how-to†book should be. Whether you think you’re “talented enough†or not, this book will teach you how. Not only does Alli go into detailed step-by-step of how to draw TONS of new florals, but also drawing them in different ways, wreaths, bouquets, etc. and also demonstrates how to digitize your art. I’m really impressed! This is a definite must buy!
It’s a gorgeous book with very nice instruction on a variety of flowers. The thing I dislike is it seems like there is a lot of wasted space. About 30% of the pages at blank “practice†pages. The book doesn’t lie flat so it is t very easy to use those, and I’d prefer more content and a separate notebook/paper for practice.
Ali does it again! I purchased her first book and instantly fell in love so buying her second book was a no brainer. And I must say it far exceeds my expectations- it is FULL of helpful tips and tricks and it 2X the size of the first book! I can’t highly recommend this book or artist enough.
I bought this book yesterday and received it today in the mail. I was so surprised it came so quickly. I spent today looking through the book and seeing the tutorials on how to draw the flowers. As someone who is a beginner, it was definitely helpful to see step by step tutorials. Also, I thought it was cute how the projects were split up by "days" so you can make gradual progress. If you're looking for a book to help you learn how to draw flowers and incorporate them into your drawings (wreaths, signs, etc). I highly recommend this book. I was initially worried that this book might be too overwhelming, but it did a great job!
After reading tons of reviews of both books I decided to buy this one first and I expected it to be worse than it actually turned out to be. It's a good book to start learning drawing modern florals with easy to follow turorials. There are 204 pages and 21 of them are blank practice pages (which are of a good quality paper for drawing with a pencil or a liner, but I'd prefer using a separate sketch book), I was literally expecting 1/3 of them to be blank after reading other reviews. There are also different flowers in this book comparing to the first one. So, I would definitely recommend this book to my friends.
I am so happy I pre ordered this incredible book! I purchased the Modern Florals book last year so I hesistated slightly on getting this as well. Let me tell you. BEST. DECISION. EVER. There is so much incredible content and Alli makes it so easy to follow along. You truly won’t regret picking this up, I can’t wait to spend time practicing!
This book is amazing!! It has SO much information and is even more dynamic than the first book! My favorite part is how Alli shows how to draw a flower from a real life flower. (Only little complaint is that it wasn’t available as spiral bound, I’ll wear through the spine fast on this one. But still worth it all!!)
